after-market modifications insurance coverage?

Hello all, looking for some insight.... which specific insurer covers extensive after-market modifications? I'm considering the purchase of a custom built EVO w/ thousands in after-market equipment. Are there any insurance companies in the 'regular' market, or do I need a specialty carrier? If a specialty carrier, then I'm looking for their respective name/address/phone#/website/location. Would I send them a complete list of my parts list so as to facilitate cover on each individual part with an approximate replacement value if lost/damaged/stolen? Which insurers would those be? A listing of all applicable insurers by chance you can provide? What are the policy specificities? that is, is there a limit on any 1 after-market part in particular, a certain maximum if you will? or do these insurers offer full replacement cost as long as you can provide proof with proper documentation in support of the modification/after-market part in question?
Thanks for everyone's thoughts/comments/suggestions/insight! Any & all replies appreciated.

After I sent a list of mods to my insurance co (GEICO)...they dropped me LOL...
I was insuring a modified show car, that I drove on sundays. They sent me to a mechanic shop to get the car looked over, then asked me to mail a list of modifications Ive done to the car. Back then it was nothing drastic, as far as mods.

Another story I shipped a highly modified Skyline back from japan...insured it (they told me it was considered a grey market vehicle...I didn't read the fine print or understood what it meant..I didn't care, I just wanted to the man..back in 1992 lol) drove it, for a year in NY. One night while I was home in bed someone ran into it while it was parked (t boned it)...after the police report was filed, the insurance company said...your total check for the car comes out to 0 dollars. My point of telling you these boring long *** stories is to read the fine print when someone says...yeh we insure modified cars etc.

I don't know how it is with any other insurance companies, if they have policies that cover highly modified cars for show or race purposes. Also Im not sure how the rules are in Canada either.

Maybe someone has done it with no issues and can chime in

The more reputable insurance companies will allow for modded parts coverage, but you have to pay extra for it.

usaa covers it, but you have to have receipts and it only covers up to ($7000?) i forget the number. You also have to be in or have a family that is/was in the military to use them.

My friends have coverage for their modified cars but the insurance companies asked for receipt for every parts they want to add and of course it's extra charge.... I think they had allstate or AAA...
