why EGT and oil pressure guages?

everyone seems to be getting boost, EGT, and oil pressure guages. boost is obvious, and oil pressure kinda makes sense to me, but why EGT? why is it so important to know your exhaust temp? sorry, im new to turbo cars

and don't electronic boost controllers come with a digital boost guage? so couldnt you just have two guages say on the a-pillar if you needed them instead of moving the radio or putting them on the steering column

High EGT's = popped head gasket, melted piston, or just in general, a really expensive weekend.

If you see them spiking rather high, chances are your A/F mix is on the lean side of things, the results of which are more often than not expensive.

Fugheddaboudit.

I've found my oil pressure gauge to be mostly useless at anything other than idle, FWIW. As the revs go up, so does oil pressure. If you're only going to have 3 gauges, I'd go for boost, EGT and oil temperature, which is a good indication of what's really going on under that mesh hood louver.
