So I was thinking of buying a bare block 2.0 from a 2006 evo 9 for 200 bucks shipped. I wanted to do everything stock. How much would it run me to build a short block if I took it to a shop?

 

I would guess around $2500 to $3000 labor and parts.

 

It's gonna be the same or more expensive if you build a oem block or a stronger one. Brand new oem parts are pretty pricey.

 

Ya, you might as well build it up even if everything else is stock.

 

built short block is around 3000 then all the gaskets and belts is around 1000.

 

I was just trying too see if I can get one built. As stock tho. Do you guys know of any places that mighthave a complete short block for sale?

 

Curious about this im pretty mechanical inclined and wanted to attempt this provably in the next few years. How much would I be looking at if i did it myself but get the block honed and machined so I can build a decent block?

Looking to do a 2.0 with rods pistons the works.
