LICP: AMS design vs ETS

Okay So I am getting ready to pick up my LICP. Here is my question. I see the difference between the 2 designs and I know everyone says that the ETS design is far superior. Then I read things that say the AMS design is better for drive ability because of the taper. I'm pretty sure I'm going with the ETS but I thought I would ask here for actual performance differences. Are the Dyno numbers really different or is daily driving different? Just thought I'd ask before I order today.

Thanks Guys!

The taper is a restriction in flow. The piping diameter does not effect drive ability. A good tune and the car will drive better then stock with a lot more throttle response. You can also run the pipe w/o a tune and feel an increase in throttle response, you will just net more gains with a tune.

Thanks!

Michael

You definitely want a LICP with a design similar to ETS' or MAP's that has a smooth taper coupler with full 2.5" piping. I see no advantages for a design like AMS'.

ETS FTW! I love their products they always fit well, have a large diameter and smooth bends

The ETS design is not only better imo, but its made out of SS and being mounted so low in the car, is much sturdier than an aluminum one.

The only advantage I see with the AMS design is their way routes the pipe away from that tow hook bracket piece where ones like the ETS that have a larger diameter pipe in that area can tend to have a tendency to rub on it during engine movements. The nice thing with the ETS is that it will be a piece of SS touching the metal tow hook vs. a rubber coupler like the AMS. The AMS pipe is routed to clear stuff better, but that coupler can rub on the tow hook and eventually fail. My evo came with an AMS LICP and the coupler had been rubbing long enough that it was starting to tear through.

Performance wise, some may argue that they are both close enough in performance gains that this aspect wont matter. That may or may not be true, but for the long run the ETS, or any one piece licp, is the way to go imo.

I like ETS' SS piping because I can tighten down the t-bolt clamps as hard as I want and the pipe won't oval/collapse/bend like aluminum would.
