RWD Evo

Need some opinions on this one. I have 1998 evo 5. We have done a truck load of work to it and I now am thinking about rear wheel driving it. I know all the ins and out of what needs to be done and parts required. Will be putting a RS rear diff in. Just want opinions on yes or no.

What purpose does making it RWD serve? I vote NO!

It's a rally car. Keep it AWD.

It'll be slower in every way, if that's what you want.

Unless this is a all out drag car or a drift car. Leave it AWD....

I'll leave AWD unless you plan to drift it.

Even if this Evo was going to be used for drifting. I would still say keep it AWD.

Looking like its pretty obvious it should stay 4x4. I may do the rs platecstyle rear diff anyway and obviously remove the yac

There was an earlier post for the same and questions about a kit. Bottom line was the diff can't hold the power--thinking it was RMR who had done the r&d on it.
So, can it be done? sure. Should it be done?--questionable. Is it practical and wise to do, definitely not. GL

NO on the first part.

YES on the second part. I had a 6 and replacing the AYC was the best thing I ever did. I was doing autocross and gymkhana at the time so I used a 1 way Cusco RS diff and it was great.

should stay AWD. If you really want or need RWD car, I suggest looking at a native rwd platform.
