MR Trans, Trouble getting into Reverse

Anyone else having an issue with getting into Reverse? I go all the way to the right and it just wont go down. Takes a couple tries. There is no grinds at all.

Any input is appreciated in advance.

How many miles on your clutch? Could be on its last leg. Maybe adjust the clutch

When I still had my MR trans I had the same issue. Though my trans was in rough shape. When I gave it to shep to get rebuilt he said just get a new trans lol.

I know you said you go all the way to the right, but I had the toughest time when I got my MR for the first week or so because i just wasn't pushing it far enough to the right. I really have to convince it to go far enough to the right before trying to move it toward the back of the car.

Try putting it into first next time that happens than put it in reverse

Common annoyance with the 6-speed. Try the trick Chris said... sometimes that helps

I have a good condition 6 speed if yours is damage and need another. But try the diagnosis others have advised first.

Dumb question but are you pulling up enough on the reverse lock out?

Lubricate the linkages on the gearbox. Right where the cable bushings are. Mine USED to be tricky, now it goes in every time.

Thanks, and Yes I pull up enough on the knob. I clearly feel it go from the 1-6 gears through that slight resistance into the reverse part of the shifter. And the clutch is brand new lol. Thanks guys ill give some of the suggestions a try.

Perhaps the clutch cables were not adjusted properly after the clutch job?

Immediately after my clutch was replaced, I had issues getting into either first or reverse (I can't remember which). So I had to take it back to the shop that did the job, they adjusted the cables, and it has worked fine ever since

I've had similar problems. If you have just recently done a clutch job, then it could be the thickness of the clutch. Too thick, then you may have difficulty getting the trans into reverse. After that, then adjust your clutch
