missing sub in evo 9 ssl

Ive been looking for an evo for quite some time now and I have found one I really like at a dealership. It did have a branded title. But that doesn't scare me away. I was told the car was never modified. Is there anyway you can tell if it was or not? Also it was an ssl package but when I looked in the trunk I noticed that the sub was not there. The brembo brakes were starting to flake and were going to need a repaint. The car had 72*** miles on it. And they were asking 17,500 for it. To me it sounds like it was priced well. But after noticing that it was missing part of the sound system and does have a branded title and needed repaint on the brakes, it should brong the price down a little? I was thinking somewhere in the 16k range? Do you guys think this is a good price. And what other thoughts you guys have let me know thanks.

By branded title do you mean it shows an accident or is it salvage/rebuild titled?

The fading happens to everyone, try to bargain some there but likely you will end up eating that cost. I can't comment on the sub missing but I would start looking for wrench marks on some of the common things changed. Did you test drive it yet?

you should be offering 12k MAX for that car, and that depends entirely on the reason for the branded title

17.5k is what you would pay for a car that had all the pieces and a clean title with those miles on it

edit: and that's 12k pending the rest of the car is 100% perfect aside from the missing sub

Sorry. The car got a branded title because the previous owner rear ended a lifted truck. Hood, quarter panels and radiator were replaced. It's not too bad. Maybe that's why theryre asking 17 for it? And yes I did test drive it

Aside from the missing sub the car is perfect. The branded came from the previous owner rear ending a truck Hood, quarter panels and radiator were replaced. It to bad of an accident. But is it still enough to bring to down to 12k?

Looks nice. Are you saying it has been totaled or just in an accident?

Personally I would only go clean title, but the car looks clean overall.

Thats lot of money for branded tiltle car. You will never get your money back. My friend paid 12K for evo 9 with 60,000 miles. I paid 14K for evo 9 with 90K with clean title.

Then I wouldnt worry about it. I think your wording pushed people to think its been totaled and the $12k is what a rebuilt titled evo would go for if it was in great shape.

Negotiate--you dont have an SSL,because they have an SL--(no sound system) if it had sound you would have a bass-- make them get one or come down on the price. The brembos are roughly 2000.00 to replace at the dealer-- I know, I had mine replaced under warranty-- you can't--but there is another 2k, its been wrecked and repainted. And who knows what your going to find when you raise the hood. Don't get emotional and look over things, every part has a value and helps you get to a fair price.

I would only go with clean title. It will be worth nothing when you try to sell it years down the road.

shouldnt have replace the brakes because the paints flaking.

OP: if it says salvaged title, the price might be a little high, but if its just previously damaged the price isnt bad... BUT thats because of where i live, the economy is booming here. theres salvaged title evo 8s selling for 17 where im from. so its just location location location.. but from by the loos of it, its a clean car. maybe yo could talk him down to 15,5 due to that, but im not sure. check what other evos are selling for in your area, that will help you come to the idea on if you over paying or not..

things to check, see if the radiator fins are all bent up on the backside by the turbo ( like as if someone was messing in there, changing turbos or replacing things ect.)

see if valve cover bolts look like they've had wrenches on them a few times.

see if all the wiring harness clips look like there all in place and its secured.( there really easy to break the clips, and you have to unclip some of the harness to work or change certain parts.)

sorry for the book to read, but i felt like typing

Whole front end was replaced. Core support. Airbags deployed, driver side doors both look out of alignment

I would DEFINITELY not buy this car
