Tranny is stuck in 5th gear in a 06 evo ix MR (6spd). Any thoughts of what I should do before pulling it apart?

 

Long shot but rock the car back and forth as you try and get it out of gear. You can also try and jack all the tires off the ground and turn the front wheels in different directions as you try to take the car out of gear.
Looks like its time to go 5 speed. Get an evo 8 box with the better ratios or an evo 9 box with a 4.11.
