Anyone have an electrical diagram for this fuse?

Your best bet is to disconnect the loads on this circuit that don't affect driveability. Especially large ones like the fan, you can easily disconnect it and drive the car conservatively to get back home. This will also help you troubleshoot where the fault is.

First, disconnect the fan and put the fuse back in and see if that stops the fuse from popping. If it doesn't, find the next component to disconnect and repeat.

I'm having trouble getting to the fan connectors. Is there a trick to this? I'm looking through the mesh grille snd I can see two connectors there. Are those the right ones?

Yes or you can disconnect it from the fan control box which should be somewhere on your driver side.

Why not just unplug the wire harness under the fans? Right under your intake pipe...

Thats what i did. Unplugged everything to the fans and the fuse still popped. That was my last resort.
Going to get the cat towed on an enclosed trailer to P3 Import Autowerks tomorrow morning and have them take a better and thorough look at it.

Ill update as soon as I hear anything.

Got back from the shop. Theyre suggesting its the ECU causing the problem. Theyve looked at everything that fuse circuits and it all checks out.

I have a friend with an Evo 9 aswell, so we'll try to rule that out.

My question is though, is this possible? For a bad ECU to just cause one fuse to blow causing the car to not start. How would this even happen? The car was driving great the same day this happened.

If the ECU failed internally or was fried somehow, then yes, its possible. Of more concern is that if that turns out to be the problem, what caused it? It's also possible that another component or wire on that circuit caused the failure in the ecu, in which case you could possible damage the new one as well.

Have they removed the ECU and inspected it?

I'm not exactly sure yet. I'm heading there now.

A friend had a similar problem and says it could be the engine harness. Thats what he had to fix or replace. Says just open it all up and start inspecting.

I will have that done first before I start replacing parts that
We "think" could be the problem.

Yeah it sounds like they just looked at all the other stuff on the circuit and couldn't find an issue so they're condemning the ecu. The fact that the fuse is blown and at the stock amperage means that while its possible the ecu is fried its highly unlikely as that's exactly what the fuse is there for. Fuses are a lot cheaper to replace then ecu's so why not have that be the weak link that goes. Good luck I think the ecu will check out good, and your friend is probably right just an issue somewhere in the harness shorting.

I stopped by the shop. And wanted to ask some questions and see what they're doing to the evo. All I got was a bunch of "I don't know" and "it could be a possibility". Honestly I got kind of annoyed by that.

I will have the car transported to a shop I trust here soon and have him check it out. He owns an Evo 8 and has had the similar problem. It might be a few days before he'll get to look at it but I don't mind that.

As always, ill keep this updated. I really am curious on what is causing this problem.

Yeah that's why I do all my own work, I was a mechanic up here before I joined the army so I know what I'm doing and there is no way a mechanic is as OCD about my car as I am. Plus I don't know how common evos are down there but I've seen maybe 5 or 6 up here including mine so there's no way a shop up here has a ton of experience with um. Not to mention I get the impression they would rather "test drive" it than work on it haha.

Oh nice. I wouldn't mind actually being a mechanic or going to school for it. I usually do my own work on the vehicles too but I just didn't want to deal with this headache since it'd an electrical problem. And since I'm new to the Evo platform I wouldn't want to ruin anything.

And there is actually a lot of Evos in the state. Search Alaska Evo Group on facebook and join Its slowly growing bigger.

What happens if you disconnect your wideband? I had this issue i had a bad wide band and i just it recently remove and no longer going through fuses.

I had the same problem with my evo. An unplugged harness was grounding out on the cv axle and causing that fuse to blow repeatedly. Secured the harness haven't had a problem since.

I unplugged all grounds and power to my wideband and boost setups. And was still gettinf the same problem.

I am going to get the car moved here back to my house for a little bit before it goes to my friends shop. Ill start digging again.
