ok im new here, but ive been following the news on the EVO comming to the U.S. I currently am a honda owner, but i plan on getting one of these as soon as i can! Anyways Ive been reading some of these posts, and sorry i dont mean to be a pain but im kinda confused here, anyone want to bring me up to speed exactly when the "supposed" time the 7 or the 8 (or whatever version) is comming out? Hopefully the controls like the ACD and Yaw will be included, cause thats one reason Id like to have in the car for crappy chicago weather here! Thanks, i hope to post often, especially after i get my Evo

Probably around this coming Dec-Jan. Good luck finding a dealer who's willing to sell at MSRP. Still top secret nothing official. Mitsubishi did promise brembo, 250+hp and coming Jan. For 28-30k it just might come with a lot. Relax and take an another look at that intercooler . Hard to beleve it's 250hp. If it's the same engine we just need aftermarket exhaust, extreme ecu or boost controler 340hp is very likely. Hopefully the controls like the ACD and Yaw will be included but rumor has it that it might be optional.

I'd advise to put money down and a spot with the manager's signiture to ensure it's yours. Good luck .


If it's world launch that means we're getting a real 276hp! But it might be a tad less that the 276hp JDM model of course.

 

well im not flustered or anything, im just as curious as anyone else but im not gonna throw my hands up in the air like a crazed maniac about it, if i waited this long for the car, im sure i can wait longer, as i plan to buy it in late september only cause im sure some bugs as with any new car can be worked out. Even if the performance has been brought down via cause of the bumper causing a shrink in the IC (which was the rumor i heard) im sure more than likely like you said that some aftermarket company will come out with a bigger IC that fits perfect in there, even if you have to gut the bumper a bit, they'll find a way. I know cause thats what they've done in the Honda world, that I too have been sucked into the import tuner world. But i have to admit if i wer to see that evo in my rear view mirror in any car, id move outta of its way

 

The intercooler looks the same to me in the evo8pics. The sucker is huge. As for bugs in a new car it's been 2 years since japan has it. They just put a new bumper and call it an eight. I don't think they made any major changes perhaps suspention tweaks and working out the bugs exsisted on the 7. Maybe 6 speed .

 

well you get my point though. i guess we'll just have to see when it comes out no? Only time and test drives will tell how well this "EVO 8" does when it comes out here now wont we? Be intresting to see the 6 speed though, maybe they might cut the gear ratios to shorter ones a little bit, like in the Audi TT 6-speed?
