premium fuel?
premium fuel?
i was wondering if it is absolutely necessary to run the highest octance gas in the evo? im very interested in the car and plan on buying one in the next couple months, but i was wondering and i saw that you need to run premium fuel in it. what would happen if you did not run premium. thank youf or your help....

The car is made to run 91 up octane, but the higher the octane, the more power you get.
Premium fuel also helps prevent any detonation from occuring...esp in turbo cars where it is more prone to happen.
(only badly modified evo's in hot weather conditions from what I know have ever done this)
If you ran 93 all the time then stepped down to 91, the ECU would have to relearn how to run with this fuel. I suppose if you reset the ECU right after the change, things will be fine.

running 91 octane means your ecu will adjust to prevent detonation.. you should run 93 octane if you dont want the ecu to hold you down... my car's been flashed for 93 octane... when i put back 94 octane, i notice smoother acceleration but my friend says i'm wasting money... oh well
