Tactrix Openport 2.0 better option for tuning

I've have both the 1.3 cable and the 2.0 "cable" and hands down tactrix has the better product. Plus tactrix is based in cali so you're supporting an American company. I've had so many problems with the 1.3 its not even funny. First the usb end that plugs into your laptop went bad. The inside connectors were poorly soldered so I had to chop the end off and resolder a new connector on the end of it. Now the flash connector wire came off where it comes out of the obd2 port so I had to open it up and resolder the flash cable to the small circuit board. I am not rough with my things either. It looks like a child's toy made with cheap plastic. They ignored all emails and have zero customer support for the product. This cable is only 10 months old too btw. So I bought an openport 2.0 from tactrix and its the best tuning device I have ever dealt with. I was flashing with it one day though and I guess the flash cable came out some how and it shorted out the openport. Probably was my fault but I sent it back to San Francisco and they sent me a brand new one no questions asked. If you're looking for a tuning cable get the tactrix 2.0, way better quality and the customer service is amazing. Mike at tactrix is a great guy, responded to every single email I ever sent him, and went above and beyond to take care of me and sent me a new cable under warranty. They are also talking to hamish to try and get the dtc and actuator error resolved but its my belief that hamish doesn't want to fix this issue or else he would have by now. Trying to force people to buy the 1.3, seems really shady to me. Especially since the quality is ****. Anyone looking for a data logging and flash cable should check out tactrix in San Francisco. Thanks.

I thought that tactrix made the 1.3 and 2.0?

They did. Tactrix no longer sells their 1.3. They only sell the 2.0 now. EvoScan sells a 1.3 version still so that's what the OP is most likely talking about.

Yeah its not tactrix its hamish and evoscan that needs to fix the program/problem. They are working with him and trying to get this corrected right now. I still think he won't fix it though so more ppl have to buy the 1.3 but maybe he will surprise me.

My 1.3 is a tactrix cable purchased prob 8 years ago.

It too was crap, had wires going to the white connector crimped together (which fell apart)

I soldered them (like they should have been) and it's been fine since

For an EVO VIII/IX the 2.0 provides no benefit to me what so ever

I had an idle dip issue that was really hard to track down and the standalone data logging function of the 2.0 helped me out a lot. The 1.3 doesn't do that. If hamish ever fixes evoscan's actuator and dtc function to work with the 2.0 (keep in mind these functions barely work with the 1.3 to begin with) it is by far the better product and works with a lot more vehicles. Customer service alone is without a question night and day between the two companies. Also tactrix just came out with a new Mitsubishi reflash adaptor that is amazingly heavy duty. All new openports will come with this new heavy duty reflash connector if purchased with the openport. I understand if you already have a 1.3 that is working that you have no reason to go out and buy a new cable, I was more addressing people who need a new cable and I wanted to post about how amazing tactrix's customer service and support was when I dealt with them. They definitely deserve and earned some praise from me on how they dealt with the issue.

You can get diagnostic trouble codes with the 2.0 - you just need to use evoscan v2.8...it doesn't work in v2.9 with the 2.0 cable.

That's good news, how about the actuator control? Do those work too?

Got my tactrix openport2.0

I've purchased this cable and the adapter for mitsu and subies. Now I have an evo ix gsr, that was previously tuned by jestr apparently. I want to read the ecu as it sits, but it doesn't seem to work, I have saved the file as a .hex but to no avail.
I really need to tune the vaccuum maps as they are seemingly rich.
The other major thing I want to do is the service engine codes, aka diagnostics, I want to read them whenever they pop up.
I've downloaded the newest ecu flash 1.44.... And the drivers etc auto installed, laptop is an hp on vista ,

Could anyone give me some guidance on this.
