Evo HID headlights questions. Please help.

Hey guys.
Is there an aftermarket hid kit that would work in oem hid headlights?

If yes. Can someone guide me on what to purchase.
My car is a 06 Gsr that did not come with hids. I got hid headlights for a good deal because the ballasts where shoot.

Thanks in advance.

C'mon someone has to know?
I've been googling it with no luck. People say it can be done but none say what exactly is needed.
Thanks

Yes. 9006 hid bulbs. 40 amp relay off of ebay. Works fine. Ballasts are the expensive part. Blown ballasts are worthless I hope the deal was $0.

Ok so 9006 bulbs will fit right in?
I know i will have to cover up that big hole on the bottom of the headlight if I remove the oem ballasts. Not a big problem.

40amp relay as in the ballast? Noob here :|
Don't I have to buy some kind of jumper harness?

They where to good to pass up so why not.

Yup 9006 fits right in. The 40 amp relay comes with external power wires so your oem wiring harness, if it were adequate for hid lighting, wouldnt burn up.

9006 bulbs will NOT fit in the OEM HID headlights.

OEM HID headlights are d2s bulbs.

What I've seen done before is the following:

Buy an aftermarket pair of HID ballasts. Aftermarket ballasts come with AMP connectors. You'll have to buy an adapter to go from AMP to D2S/D2R connector. You can get them off ebay. If you go this route, you'll have to keep the busted OEM ballast in to prevent moisture from leaking into the headlight because it has a rubber seal on it. Then drill a hole in the rear cover of the low beam (the one that's held on with one screw and twists to remove). make sure you use a sealing grommet to prevent any moisture from leaking in. Pass the aftermarket connectors through the hole and mount the aftermarket ballast somewhere in your engine bay.

So to sum it up you'll need the following:

AMP Ballasts

+

AMP -> D2S Adapter

That's the cheap way to do it.

Otherwise you'll have to look for some OEM ballasts on ebay. One of mine went out and I was able to find a replacement here on the forums.

I'd like to also add that if you're going to be using the HID headlights in your non-HID car, you'll need a harness. The plugs are different.

You guys are making this way too complicated

Buy these ballasts:
http://www.theretrofitsource.com/com...-ballasts.html

Buy these bulbs:
http://www.theretrofitsource.com/com...d2s-bulbs.html

Mount the ballasts somewhere on the car and figure out how you're gonna seal the headlights when you plug the new ballast in

The car has 9006 headlight plugs from the factory, getting an AMP ballast is a bad idea. Get a D2S ballast with a standard 9006 plug and you're good to go.
