05 evo problem starting

Hey guys. I'm having some issue withmy car. it'll only start if I have the accelerator pressed all the way down and even then it'll stay at idle and I get white smoke coming out of the exhaust. I didn't blow the motor cause it was running fine until I gt home turned the car off and next morning it gave me this.

I replaced spark plugs and it will now start getting into the higher rpms but as soon as I let of the gas it'll shut off again.

Any help?

White smoke? Did you check your intercooler pipes? Could be a blown head gasket. Check the color of your oil on the dipstick and make sure it does not look contaminated with coolant.

Checked the pipes and the dipstick no coolant seems to have entered. Could it be the 02 sensor?

Sorry for double post, I tried putting in more gas as I was on empty before and I heard if fuel pump is bad itll die less than quarter tank but that didnt solve anything.

Heres a video which might better explain it. I had to be pedal to the metal to even get it to start. My oil pressure is pretty high too

That's a dead miss--there is at least one cylinder not firing.. Start pulling plugs and lets see what you have there. You better hope the un burned gas is putting out the smoke, cause that sure looks like a head gasket as well. Just because it was running fine the night before doesn't mean you didn't do damage to it. It just had time to cool and contract exposing the busted HG and causing it to leak more--- But start with the plugs and report back.

Damn.

Have you verified all cylinders are getting spark?

Have you tried resetting your ecu (doubt that would do anything) by disconnecting the battery?

How did the plugs look? Any plugs worse than others or all the same?

Give the engine a once over making sure everything is plugged in and no vacuum lines popped off, or anything disconnected....

Hoping others will chime in for ya!

So I took the car to Ivey tune and they looked at for a bit. They got the car running by changing the map on the ecu and as we let the car idle to burn off the unburnt fuel it just died again.

It was not a blown headgasket for sure since the car ran fine for the minute that it did...

Any other ideas on what it could be?

Did you leave it at that when you left Ivey Tune? I would assume they could have diagnosed it for you?? Yeah?

Nope Ivey got it running by changing the MAP sensor. Although its not perfect the car is either on a bad tune which wouldnt make sense since tunes dont just change like that or its not getting fuel... I drove it about ten miles and the whole way it was running like crap wouldnt really rev past 3k and I didnt feel comfortable driving it.

They told me it was rough around the edges and unless they fix all that they wouldnt want to tune it which is understandable.

So as for an update it runs now but it runs like **** and very rough past 2k rpm.

To be clear you just picked the car up from being built elsewhere. We see a lot of problems, and honestly you need to go see who built the car.
We can fix it for sure, but as we explained it will not be cheap and since you just paid someone to do the car.................
Let us know if you need any further assistance.

To Clarify the tech swapped the map sensor, and no tuning was done.
