So I noticed a lot of people say they use RedLine or Amsoil, can these be found at AutoZone or O'Rielys? Or do I have to order them online. Searching the sites just comes up with Mobil 1 fluids, are these ok to use?


I just bought an evo new tires going on today, and I'll be changing out all the fluids Sunday.


I'm sorry I've used the search function and maybe I'm using it wrong but I tried and nothing relevant comes up...

 

I use ALL OEM FLUIDS and oil filter. I purchased the fluids off Amazon. Good prices and expedited two day shipping if you are an Amazon Prime member. No issues ever using oem fluids...obviously.

Others love using Amsoil or Redline. They can share their experiences with you.

Don't forget to purchase new oem washers for the fill/drain plugs... STM or MitsubishiParts.net has them or if you are in a hurry...check your local mistu dealer(s).

 

Which I bet was Alot cheaper as well. Its going to be my daily driver so I guess I don't need the extra high performance fluids. And thanks for the washer reminder I almost forgot

 

I currently use the following fluids:

Motor - AMSOIL Dominator 10w-30 Racing Oil
Transmission - Redline MT-85
Transfer Case - OEM Diaqueen
Rear Diff - OEM Diaqueen

I get all my stuff online or from my buddies shop if he has it in stock. Like SilverShadow03 said check out Amazon. You can usually find some good deals on there.

 

Cheaper it is.....I have over 182K miles on my evo using oem fluids. I wouldn't use anything else for my use and mileage.

I dont have a mitsu dealer close by so I get oem diaqueen for the rear diff and transfercase from STM.

For the transmission (5speed), ive been using Motul lately and liking it better than the redline cocktail Ive used in the past. I just get that from Amazon.

So I found a pretty good deal from Amsoil. I bought every fluid I could possible need to replace.

I've been reading the forums all morning on how oem fluids should go in the transfer case and diff, but guess I'm taking a chance now since I bought it already. Wish me good luck.

 

your good man I use Amsoil for the tranny, t-case & diff. Amsoil and Redline are the best fluids out there

 

I had a long conversation about this very topic with Jon at TRE. I asked him about recommended fluids in general and differences with the recommended drivetrain fluids he listed on his webpage according to vehicle use, power, etc.
In short he said that oem Diaqueen was tough to beat, it really is a great gear oil. Having been a die hard Redline fan for my drivetrain, after our conversation he convinced me oem diaqueen is the way to go.


I will say that the rear diff seems to be more particular than the transfer case and trans as far as what fluids is being poured in. Having to replace a low mileage barely used rear diff, I'm sticking with oem diaqueen this time around. ymmv

 

Buy them from a vendor or shop that is in the Evo business. Support the ones that still work and build Evos

 

STM and/or Evolved Lubricants. Support those that support you
