Potential Evo buyer questions?

Hey guys, so Ive been on the forums for a little over half a year, just learning and getting to know as much as I can. I've just started looking for an Evo recently and came across a Tarmac Black Evo 9 with 40k on the clock. 3rd owner, Clean Title, RPF1's, D2's and some other small touches. Engine wise as said, Buschur TBE, Map 02 Dump, and Perrin intake. Receipts from previous owner on Upgrades. Drivetrain,Dynotech Tuning Stage 1 Transmission(5th gear syncro issue starting), and Exedy Twin Disc Clutch

Asking price is 22k. Opinions? Suggestions? What would you pay?

I would pay that for a nearly stock evo 9, just my opinion that these cars are worth more to me when someone hasn't messed with it. Seeing as this one has a fair amount of mods I wouldn't pay more then 20k.

I'm not sure if you're saying that the 5th gear is starting to have an issue, or if the 5th gear had an issue and that's why the transmission was done. If the car does indeed have a transmission issue, don't pay a dime over 20 for it, and that is if it's in perfect shape IMO

With regards to the value.

i noticed you also mentioned 40,000 "K"?

since you are in NY…

is this vehicle a JDM grey import? ('Gray' in yank language)

Where i am, JDM cars are worth even less than local delivered ones.

I wouldn't pay more than 18-19k. I know its low mileage but it already had few owners, plus needs transmission work. I would wait for a better deal. Be patient one will pop out.

I would say to keep looking. I looked at and test drove at least a dozen evos before I found one that was worth my time and in great shape. Most of them were a waste of time to check out but then I was able to compare the cars in terms of condition/mileage/mods/price.

I would get one as close to stock as possible just make sure everything checks out if it is modified, it is worth it to spend some extra cash getting the car inspected before buying
