i just got an email from a dealer that i had called a few months back..

I just wanted you to know that I just got back from a Mitsubishi meeting. A
portion of the meeting centered on the introduction of the EVO VIII. It now
looks like we will be getting our first EVO's on or around mid December or
January. We will have our cars a few weeks before Mitsubishi announces the car
to the general public during the Super Bowl. The commercials should be great
and the car should be too. Look for another obscure band to have a hit on their
hands. They are still saying the base price will be around $27,000 - $28,000.
Some of the performance issues on the car are still being kept a secret Rumors
are still between 276 to 320 horsepower and 0 - 60 mph at around 4 seconds. As
I get more information I will pass it along.

I believe I was at the same meeting. Afterwards I had a drink with one of the big guys in the meeting and he said that there it will be 800 hps' and they will add 2 wings to the car's sideskirts so if necessary it can fly into the sky. It will of course also have rocket fuel as an option.
