Has anyone noticed a change in engine + Exhaust note by running E85?
Hi Guys,
I'm curious to know this.
I recall reading somewhere, that someone had noticed a change in the exhaust note after converting to E85 from Gasoline to a more aggressive note.
Can anyone confirm if this is true, I'm guessing that it is due to the more power output. Hence, changing the sound.
Regards,

If I'm reading between the lines here I'm assuming you're wanting to know so that you can decide whether to switch to E85 or not...if you want more aggressive tone upgrade your cams and/or exhaust. Don't switch to E85 just for that because along with E85 you'll need tune and bigger injectors and potentially upgraded fuel pump.

most of the time when people are running e85 it is because they have a bigger turbo and/or bigger cams so most of the time it is going to sound more aggressive.

Thanks for the responses.
NSDQ, No.. i am not contemplating with swapping to e85 , just for the sound.
I have a full exhaust incl dump already and I've always hated the lopey sounds of aftermarket cams.
I had made up my mind to go e85 early next year… and yes i am well aware of 1000cc injectors and Walbro 255s may not be suitable.
(I will be undergoing a flex-tune aswell)
i was just curious as i mentioned that i had read somewhere that a person found that E85 "sounded more aggressive"
If this is true, was just curious of the logical explanation behind this…
A.) either that a 310whp Vs 370hp car… has really got to sound different…(you wouldn't expect a 200whp car sound the same as a 400whp car would you?)
or
B.) the fact that 25psi vs 29psi changes the way the car sounds… I'm assuming that PSHhhhHHT would be louder as well as the spooling would be louder & the octane rating is higher, giving it better acceleration is the reason its giving people this impression.
but then again, most people here reckon it did not sound different.

Im still running the same walboro 255 Since 2009. Granted, actual miles on it is maybe 18,000 or so. I'm making 340 hp/350 ft lbs on a dyno dynamics and Its handling the duty of e85 just fine.
