The Mitsubishi dealership is charging me $1500, parts and labor included to get my clutch changed. Is that a fair price or too much?

 

About $600 over priced . I got a comp stage 4 6 puck spring bnib for $400 and then $500 for labor at an reputable shop. $900 with a good clutch

 

Just paid $1000 for parts and labor from an Evo tuner shop for a Competition stage 2.

Do you really want to go OEM for a clutch again?

 

Get a comp stage 2 and have a good evo shop do it. dealer rapes you

 

the important thing here is, take it to an EVO specific shop. CC stage 2
if not, stick with dealer. imo.

 

How would you compare comp stage 2 with exedy twin ? & what is the power level of the clutches?

 

Can a stage 2cc handle 500wheelish hp? Bc I have a twin disk cc on my turbo dd civic and it's a damn pita since it's my dd and I only drive city stop and go Allday

 

I would lean towards a stg3 at that power which is what I'm gonna run.

 

I had a CC twin on my old civic and now have an Exedy HD Twin on my Evo...the Exedy is wayyyyyyyyy easier to drive in stop/go traffic, so don't shy away from a twin if it's a nicer one imo

 

Clutches are rated for tq, not horsepower.

I put a competition clutch stage 2 in mine about a year ago. My only engine mods are exhaust. The clutch is toast. Upon talking to someone at shep trans, they said they haven't had good luck with the comp clutches. I'm going with an Exedy HD twin disc. I'll let you know how this clutch works out.

 

Sounds more like and improperly installed / adjusted clutch, not broken in properly, or launched to all hell.

Not saying Comp are the best, but they're not that bad to match the experience you had

Exedy HD Twin is USELESS for your car. There's so much overkill it's not even funny. Get an Exedy Organic HD and you'll be fine. And it'll save you $1,000.

 

Where were these last 2 posts yesterday! I just ordered the comp stg 2 today. Oh well, guess I'll just burn it nothing and go exedy.
