I'm switching all cars over to Diehard Platinum one by one. A rebadged Odyssey for less money:
http://www.sears.com/diehard-platinu...-02851035000P#

It can be had for as low as 150 to 180 if the intarwebs are to be believed. I paid either 205 or 225. can't remember, exactly.

What are the advantages of a lithium battery? I just can't really justify spending $400+ but also don't know much about it except that it is what i have in my phone lol

To be honest, its too early to tell if cost could be justified, though you are in sac, I could def show you the good points of getting it during one of the evo meets / photoshoots coming up

I run a red top in the trunk. no issues. I compensated for weight by increasing horsepower and tq

The most expensive mistake you'll make is buying a lithium and trying to let it sit for weeks at a time.

Any specific info on the miata batteries? Does it matter which manufacturer? Is it just the size or is there some wonder tech involved? CCA? Can stock tray be used? Searching got me a pile of "miata batteries rule" which isn't really helpful.

Good to hear success with the light Odyssey pc680. I carry one of the lithium battery jump boxes, in case the cold weather takes its toll on the little guy.

The diehard as a rebrand of an odyssey? I think that is a mistake, and it is actually a rebranded optima. Autozone sells their store brand and I was told it as a rebranded optima with absorbed glass mat construction. Which is what he diehard listed.

I'm guessing the pc680 guys are all in the engine bay, and no one is running a light battery in the trunk.

I will look into the lithium battery for the next autocross season.

Jerry

Optima is not the only company that produces AGM batteries if that is the "reasoning" behind why you think it's a mistake.

oops, i was thinking they made the light weight batteries. i stand corrected. i was told the autozone brand battery was an optima, so i was thinking they did the same for the sears brand.

nice pictures though.
