How long does it take to top the car out???

Last night on my Super Secret test track..... I was trying to get the car to top out and it wouldnt in anyway.... It got to 145 and just strait wouldnt climb anymore.... Is it possible i have a boost leak or somthing... At that time i was reading 14psi on my boost gauge... It rarely boost to 19lbs and when it does its back to 15psi just as quick as it climbed to 19... Almost like a spike to 19 and staying at 15lbs.... suggestions? time for a MBC? basically its an all stock car so.....

Stock I do not think the Evo is gear bound. Taking 4th to 7700rpm is very quick, after 130 the car is "slow" compared to most other vehicles that could stay with you until then. This is on 91 octane, I've seen my needle around 150, but I think there's a percentage of error (usually on the slow side), that took more time than my old M Roadster with top down

remember that on a stock evo , the top end drops do to the boost tappering . you hit 19psi and it tappers to 16psi , not sur if its after 5.5krpms ...
Get a flash which is able to fix your top end holding boost till red line, and you should be able to accomplish those speeds (an hope that you do it on the track not on the highways since that would be a huge risk to take ..to prove nothing)

Answer the guys question, he has his own mommy. If he wants to drive the car to full potential that is his business. Not everyone is a little kid.

Anyway yes something is wrong. Your car should climb at least a tiny bit to 155 at least.

Try a Vishnu Stage 1+, your car will still be pulling nicely as you go straight through 160.........or so I've heard...........

My 0-280kmph take approximately 25-30 secs... at 1.5 bar.. no launch and WOT all the way.

0-60 = 4-5 secs
60-160 = 6 secs
160 - 240 = 8 secs
240 - 280 = 6-8 secs.

I need one of those gizmos to measure this stuff.

I would say stock would take much longer at the 200 - 250kmph range...

My boost according to my EBC at 7k rpm was 1.52 bar constant...

The track was a 30+ km dual lane carriageway that is empty after midnight (There is NO nightlife where we are)... wind.. dont know.. maybe it was from behind... Didnt want to stick my finger out to find out

280kmph is about 170+ mph btw.. +- 10% coz i am relying on the stock speedo...

TO answer your question on boost leak.. yes... Constant boost is critical to keeping your acceleration up to redline... also maybe because my power curves top at 5500 and taper off slowly to 7700 giving me a lot more top end power. So dont expect stock to do the same... but my stock setup was good for 260kmph - 160+ mph...+- 10%

no i was actually doing this in suspect there was a problem with my car leaking boost...... and it was on my "super secret test track" at about 2am..... So dont preach at me... This makes the 2nd time i have driven my car this hard in the 5 months of ownership..........btw my super secret test track is in a county with a very low population and at the time no body else was driving on my super secret 4 lane test track...

Most of the car magazines report mid 150s for top speed. Motortrend did a Top Speed shootout where cars were tested at top speed in two directions to compensate for any wind or elevation changes, and the EVO averaged 157mph if memory serves me correctly.

I just ordered one. There are a couple of E-Bay dealers selling the GTech PRO unit new for $49.95 plus $5 shipping. This is the smaller GTech unit, not the new Competition model. Maybe not the most accurate way to measure absolute HP, but good for seeing how your mods effect acceleration, 0-60 times, and 1/4 mile times/trap speeds.

I decided to baseline the car wit the GTech before installing my Buschur cat-back, getting the ECU reflashed, and installing a Hallman MBC. Let's see if these mods really make a noticable improvement in acceleration.

What was the grade of the road?
Air temperature and humidity?
Wind speed and direction?

A slight incline and a headwind could easily knock 5-10 mph off your ground speed.
