hi guys

there are a lot of info on this forum on evo 8/9 timing belt. found stickies of parts list and some how to's.

just want to know if my car, a 1997 evo 4 gsr, use the same parts for a timing belt job on the evo 8/9's

my timing belt started to make some whining noise. car is at 140,xxx kms on the odometer. I am seeing some belt pieces falling off of the belt so I think its time. I owned the car since oct 2012 and I doubt that the timing belt has been done before.

Help!

all the same parts. only water pump is different. alt 5 less amps.

 

I ended up just going to the local parts store to get the new tensioner ( happens to be a 2G DSM). I just asked for the 1997 GSX one

 

Its the same timing belt from Evo 8 to Evo 4, so dont worry about it. You can buy a gates racing timing belt.
