08 evo with a GT3076?
08 evo with a GT3076?
hi guys, So my buddy got a 08 Evo and it's got some decent upgrades on it already and we are going to take it to the next step. It's already got custom tuning and openecu IIRC it's called, and I had done some tweaking with its tune already.
all that aside. We were going to buy the garret 3076 kit and drop that into it.
I've been googling but I cant really seem to find any definitive numbers, I'm wondering, what is the SAFE max boost for the motor? I mean people talk like 450-500whp? but where does that translate into approx boost?
I'm aware that boost numbers and horses arent a direct reference either, a bigger turbo will flow more air mass and lower charge temps, etc etc,
head studs? I cant really find much info on that, are they a weak link at all? I know in other boosted motors guys do head studs and that allows for good gains before the rest of the motor starts to become weak, but it seems like with these motors from reading people say its a waste of money???
Let me know what you all figure and any tips/pointers, Thanks!

08 evo is going to be a evo 10 this is the 1-9 section so this is the wrong section. I would pick a fp red over that turbo it does not spool fast for the power it makes. I've read people that switched from the gt30r to a hta35r and said it spooled faster and made way more power.

to give you some perspective....
my 05 evo 8 w/ GT30R @ 26lbs on 93 octane with all supporting mods (intake, intercooler, cams, tune, injectors etc etc) made 430 awhp and 350 ft-tq. clean compression numbers, no boost leaks, no knock etc etc.
so yeah, GT30R isn't the fairest of the bunch (sigh)

Thanks for the info I think you're right on the evo 10. And good info, I don't mind a lesser spool for increased power return. I like when I'm in a vehicle that has some delay and a massive hit, Its tons of fun to feel it come in and hit hard as to almost always being in boost..
Had my single fuel pump not been close to maxed out I'd be in the 700's right now. I'm on a 3582 with E85 at a measly 27psi making 613/492. I'm also stroked to 2.4 so I spool fairly well
Those sure are some good. Numbers! , so you obviously have a built motor, still some impressive numbers. I'm trying to figure out on the stock motor what I could end up doing. But again I guess it's the wrong place to be asking the questions! Haha
