opinions wanted.

Hey there. I'm looking for some opinions on this.

I have wanted an Evo since I was probably 12 years old. (24 now). But have always been hesitant on buting a used one because I know people mod like crazy. And drive them like they're in fast and furious.

So I came up with a solution. But an Evo 8 or 9 shell (favorite models) and build the Evo myself with all brand new parts. I have already priced it all. It would be anywhere from 23000$ to 26000$ for shell and all parts.

My question is. Do you guys think it would be worth it?... the reason I would say yes is because I could go spend 25000$ on a 06 MR with a bunch of mods and 85000 miles on it. Or build my own with 0 miles on all of it except the body of course.

Let me know what yall think!

pardon me, but you would be a fool-- if you could build one for 26k and mitsu charges 36k+ then we would all build one. paying retail for parts is going to be far more then the cost the factory charges assembled.. Sorry on this one, spend the time and look for a low mileage 30k car and be done.

You can't even get a evo 8 or 9 from Mitsubishi anymore. If I was talking about an Evo X than I would understand where you're coming from.

Once you price out stock driveline components to fill your shell with, you'll quickly see how your numbers are incorrect. A shell only makes sense if you're building a racecar.

I was more pricing it along the lines of finding a rolling shell With full interior. Basically just a gutted evo

You can grab an Evo 8 with high miles for 12ish if you've got cash, I'd start there, you'd have a working fun *** car starting out.

You're way better off buying a car that was well cared for with lower miles. And an MR with 85k for $25k is ridiculous. I know prices are high, but you sure can find better deals than that!
