Beatrush under tray (higher temps?)

I installed the Beatrush under tray on my IX recently.

Previously, I had been running with no undertray.

With the Beatrush on, I'm noticing slightly higher oil temps. Nothing crazy, but the temps are roughly 10C higher daily driving.

What has me worried, is the possibility of reducing air flow to the transmission and increasing the temp.
I have an MR, and I know those 6 speeds don't like the heat.

Has anyone had issues with this before?

Do you have data comparing it to the OEM under tray? I honestly wouldn't worry, I have not noticed any issues personally.

This is compared to running no under tray.
I just feel like more heat is being trapped in, which is odd, said nice it should have the reverse affect...

Id be curious to know what the temps read with a stock undertray on. Bounce the data from Beatrush/OEM/Uninstalled.

No under tray installed is supposed to be the worst.

The OEM piece looks like it channels air to the transmission and. brakes.

It would be awesome to see some data.

the oem undertray is very carefully designed to channel air to various places, and probably add downforce on the nose. no surprise you're seeing higher temps w/out it.

^ I followed this and used the crappy Japanese directions it came with. Pretty easy install.

Here's part of the product description....

Product Description:
Engine Temperature - Thanks to the low pressure zone heat is drawn out of the engine bay, thus reducing overall engine temps. Likewise, when the vehicle is in motion airflow through the engine bay is streamlined out into the high velocity airflow underneath.

So, I'm a little surprised that it's having a negative effect on my cooling.

Is your oil cooler duct still installed? Is your hood vent still installed?

I doesn't seem surprising to me that no undercover is the cooler way to run. The Beatrush, and I run one, looks to restrict exit airflow somewhat. The OEM, which is shorter, probably less so or maybe not at all.

The oil cooler which dumps hot air to the wheel well shouldn't be affected so maybe the difference is air flow over the pan.

Although I have no proof, I think the purpose of the undercovers is to make the car more aerodynamic.

I have a 6-speed 2006 MR, and have the same full BeatRush undertray on for at least 4 years. It makes sense that you might experience slightly higher temps. but, it's worth that when you think of what it is protecting, and it's helping to create more down force, and the channeling of the air.

You could always cut out the fender liner behind the oil cooler and rivet a screen in place to try to improve the flow out of the cooler.

Yeah, I was more worried about the cooling of the trans. vs the slight increase in oil temp.

The extra protection and downforce added is nice though
