Motherf'n gas door clip

Lol I've owned my Evo 9 since 2007 and probably went thru 40 new clips and always keep one in the glove box. Has anyone ever came up with a solution to keep these damn things from popping out after 3 weeks of use?

I've owned my Evo 8 since 2011, just replaced the clip for the 1st time. You guys must be filling your gas daily to have to replace the clip so often.

When I broke my first clip, I just Epoxy to hold it back together and it never broke again. 2 years and still going strong.

It doesn't seem to get a good bite on the metal loop that holds it in...maybe I'll try and epoxy or super glue it.

Owned since Jan 2006, still on the original. Maybe they slam the gas door shut?

Just buy a couple of clips at the dealer-- just a few bucks a piece. I leave them in the glove box for just an occasion.

I don't know why my friend's IX does the same thing. He replaced it many times already. Mine is the original 2003 part and it's still hold fine.

On my last evo, I made a kinda fix with one of those sheet metal screw holder things you get with a co-ax speaker for the door. I wish I had a pic., but there is a way to make that work without having to by a new one all the time.

On my 8, it hasn't broken in six years so far...*fingers crossed*

Are you buying the dealer part or from somewhere else? I noticed the dealer part is a little too big. I had trimmed one side of it about 1/4 inch off and it has worked perfectly.

I dont think my door clip is the issue but I go in thru my trunk, pull the cord and open the gas door that way. Makes me feel more BA at the Shell station haha
