Eva 8 build slow but well just slow

Hellllloooooo everybody, I wanted to do a build thread as a time line for myself and for all broke people like me. This thread will take years most likely. Hope we can all enjoy.

I picked up the car in Chicago on may something or another of 2012 with 200,000 miles. I know alot, but I also paid 8,000 for it so not gonna be picky. There is a little rust under the car and on the doors, once again I can live with it.

First thing was first I picked up an aem boost and afr gauge with a dual pod on the column. Few weeks later snagged a used oil pressure gauge, so I wondered what to do I have 3 gauges and to spots. I stumbled on a forum here were a guy put a gauge in his cluster, pretty freaky sweat I thought. Cut some holes, little glue what do you know it looks stock.

I also found a used double din cheap and built my own hvac relocation so put that in to.

That's all I did for the first month I owned the car payed off pay pal credit and round to starts.

Next few months were a little slow, I still plan on this being a drag car. So the a/c and heating bits were pulled, I may have wasted time making the hvac part.... But it was fun. I also removed the wiring for all the abs, hvac and speakers at once. I did put in nice speaker wire in prep for a decent audio system. I should say I had the used parts for the abs delete ordered at this point. The abs delete was finished a few weeks later.

Once again few months pass finish paying pay pal off.

Winter time comes and my budy helped build a skid plate in his heated garage. Also figured good time to do a little painting. Pulled the head lights out and side markers and sprayed them black. The markers were night shaded so you can see light still.

Summer of 2013 was a stupid summer took about a year to pay off. I should also note the motor was rebuilt before I bought the car. So to start the summer I found a used set of ams upper and lower intercooler pipes. Well if you put piping on you have to upgrade your intercooler right. Found another used part, it happens alot in the build. Ams 3.5 front mount was purchased and installed with the piping mid June.

At the end of June I stumble on another used part this time it was an Ams F1-i pretty cheap and came with an adapter plate for a stock throttlebody. I'm an Ams fan few parts of there's are on the car. Figured I'm in the area let's grab a fuel rail. Found a used Ams rail and installed the parts in July.

I didn't buy parts for the car until June of 2014

So June 2014 almost all payed off with paypall. This point I'm think speed density and E85. Start shopping for SD parts over the next month and store them in the car until i had all them all. I made an appointment with Rs motors and made the trip to have it tuned. That didn't go so well..... Almost there and I feel/hear a vibration. I get there and they find out my balance shift belt is going out. So no tune that day

Eva 8 build slow but well just slow-forumrunner_20151120_114438.png

Get home ordered the belt and waited and waited. Replaced the belt once it came in, which isn't alot of fun by the way. Instead of going to Rs this time I had a local guy tune it just by doing some pulls on a back road. Just want to add E85 smells wonderful

Eva 8 build slow but well just slow-forumrunner_20151120_114550.png

The tuner noticed a small crack on my throttle body and said its not hurting anything but said should replace it. So I grabbed a 75mm. The 75mm attachment isn't installed though. Yet.....

I went to school for auto body so this next section it came in handy. I like the evo 8 front bumper but I don't like the little triangle with the logo, so it was nose chop time.

I also picked up a cheap vortex piece.

I wad a little unlucky I ended up finding an oem wing a few months later so I still need to paint it.

Once it warmed up I built a cop kit . That was actually really fun to build.

I also relocated the battery to the trunk and mounted it.

Few weeks back had a nasty leak from the radiator so picked up q koyo half rad for future ff set up

And that were we are, for now. Pay some bills and hopefully get back to it in spring.
Hope everyone enjoys

Going well, what method did you use to repair the lacquer on the rear wing?

There are a few wing repair threads floating around that you can reference if you have any issues. I'm gonna tackle my recently purchased 8 wing as well... Looking forward to seeing this build through, it's always fun watching these transformations. Best of luck!

Check out the wing repair thread as well if you haven't already. It gives you all the info you need, all it comes down to is you doing it.

So little up date my fuel pump went out on me so I figured what the hell let's build a double pumper set up. Picked up two Walbro 255's and some an fittings little cut here and there and presto.

Also couple early holiday presents from the wonderful parents. Rexpeed for the win.

Still searching for a clear that will actually stick to cf. Sherwin Williams will not guarantee it so I'm gonna call dupont this week.
