Question Evo 7

Guys. First of all I'm new to this forum, and this is my first thread. I know that this question has been asked a million times. But I couldn't find a proper answer for it.

In the area I live an Evo 7 would be around 40k USD and that would be either a conversion or rarely an original evo. (Evo 10 is around 70k USD)
What I mean by conversion is that you get a 2001 Lancer and fit evo parts. Here in Sri lanka you get down dismantled cars from Japan for the job and fit them in to the Lancer. Basically a donor evo in a lancer body.
Most of the WRXs and Evos available here are conversions, because of the high tax rates and you can't import a vehicle which is older than 3 years. So the only way to get an Evo is to get a Lancer and convert it.
I'd like to know what are the drawbacks in doing so?

Thank you

Converting a lancer to an Evo is a massive project, not sure if it's possible, there's all the under carriage and drive train too, and buying one looks like to much. I'd look at something else like a Honda type r or a mazda speed, something that is not taxed so much

Bro everything is taxed a Prius would cost around 40k USD.
I know WRX conversions don't require this much work. But apparently Evo conversions require a chopped trunk, because of the driveshaft welding etc.
You do get only conversions here. There are professionals who do WRX conversions locally but I dont know about the Evo yet.
I'd wanna avoid buying a conversion and build one as to myself.
