Snow

We got snow. It was a blizzard with high winds. Even the weather service can't say how much we got, they are saying somewhere between 16 and 23 inches. My wife went outside this morning to look around because every window was plastered over with snow. When my snow blower had trouble clearing the driveway I cored the snow with a 4 inch piece of plastic sewer pipe and melted it to find the water content. From my randomly selected site I measured 3.3 inches of water. This after some melting at the bottom – the ground was warm. In other words, a wet snow.

This was Evo weather so after the driveway was cleared we went to enjoy the unplowed streets. It was great. Along the way we buzzed into Home Depot to obtain the above mentioned piece of pipe. Trying to negotiate around the South side of the store was a trucker, needing to get to the rear of the establishment to unload. Before trying to drive back there he was walking his route when spouse and I came along in full rally mode. He went ballistic, screaming and hollering swear words. I stopped and lowered the window to find what was wrong.

It didn't help when I said, “Cool down, it is a nice day.”, because when we got home the news was on and it showed some poor trucker trying to shovel out his rig and breaking the handle right off of his shovel. The interstate didn't open until after lunch. This guy had to have been out in that.

Anyway, I can imagine his thoughts seeing us buzzing along as if there was no snow while he was walking his route wondering if he could make it.

I'll have to dig up some of my photos from last year in Rochester, NY. We got some pretty decent snowfall.
This one is from my grandfather's place outside Philly during "Snowmageddon" this year.
