Do Evo's make good DD's
I like my Evo and I'm still a Honda guy.
OP, Evos make great daily drivers. Sure they are a bit stiffer than your usual grocery getter and make more mechanical noise, but let's face it, the Evo was not meant to be a gas sipping utilitarian. Mitsubishi made regular Lancers for that type of duty.
With that said, I've been daily driving my Evo since October 2015 and I can't wait to hop into another Civic for daily driving duties. Traffic and drivers in Hawaii suck and I'm planning on turning my Evo into a weekend/project car. I also miss having a lighter clutch pedal.

Hondas suck *** and the owners are more annoying than a mosquito buzzing in your ear when you try to sleep. seems like the bank will give out loans for anyone nowadays. I'm seeing Honda owners in my city switching to gtr's, evos, supras and some even Porsche ruining the hell out these cars. funny thing is if they had to pay cash for a low mileage unmolested evo, they'd never be able to get one until they're 80 years old. My advice? stick with the Honda before yet another evo meets it's doom.

But hey, you feel however you want about me, and make your assumptions based solely on the cars I drive. Every type of scene is gonna have someone like you, someone negative who just loves to talk down others, and I'm fully prepared for that.
I most definitely will not be taking your advice and I will be purchasing a 2006 Mitsubishi Evolution IX. Cheers bud.
I have been unhappy with the car basically since the day I bought it haha. So i never really wanted to invest much money into the car, but suspension wise I wanted it to be a little lower than stock. My girlfriend has some Full Body Buddy Club coilovers on her Si and it rides like a dream compared to mine.
I think the only reason my EVO would be considered a bad DD is because I'm very **** about it. This leads to me avoid parking in many places and also not wanting other people in the car
Hey, had to start somewhere. Not everyone is fortunate enough to just jump straight into a nicer more expensive car such as an Evo. I had to work my way up to be able to afford one financially and needed something to drive in the meantime. I don't even associate myself with the Honda crowd due to me just not clicking with them. Most of the people I know in the car scene are into other platforms. I maybe hang out with one person who drives a civic, if that? But hey, you feel however you want about me, and make your assumptions based solely on the cars I drive. That would be like me just jumping into a gt3 tomorrow just because I came into some extra cash. I would never do that until I learn and gain true knowledge about the car which is what a real enthusiast does. That's why you see them "stuck" to the car they love and not changing scenes. Based on the questions you're asking you clearly are not prepared. What you're doing is what we call posing. what's next after the purchase? let me guess..dropping the car and a set of Rotas. rant done. I see this too many times.
If you have wonderful roads to drive, its a great daily driver
I've been dd'ing mine for almost 7 years...but its beautiful weather here in Socal and I'm fortunate enough to cruise along the beach and then hit the canyons on my commute. If I was stuck on the freeway, it wouldn't be as much fun. I've never even put a radio in mine it's that much fun...
Never had any reliability issues, but I started from stock and carefully did the modifications that would be fun yet safe. Starts up every time, never had a problem, bulletproof.
Find a good one, have a reputable shop give it a once-over, and stick to the maintenance (which imho isn't much)...and you'll have a fun time.
Good luck,
Erik

Not saying you shouldn't start from somewhere but every Honda to evo owner I've ever seen, or Honda owners that want evos never do their research about the car, end up buying it and hacking it up. you ask them what's done and they never know what to say because they had purchased a car they know nothing about, blindly throwing mods just to make it faster.

And LOL at putting Rota wheels on it, that's funny. I wouldn't even put Rotas on one of the Honda's I own that you despise so much. One thing I don't do is cheap out where it matters, if at all.
I know explaining myself to you is probably insanely useless due to you having a bad taste in your mouth about Honda owners that cannot be washed out. So I'll just have to ignore you from here on out I guess. Thanks for your input though.
I know what you mean. Back in those days, I wanted to drop an H22A into my Accord, but my friends were saying that I might as well buy a new car. So I did, when the time was right.

hahah itr elitists.. one of the reasons why i got out of the honda game, scene was a bunch of kids who think their $hit dont stink.
sounds like youre not new to modding cars & maintaining them so maintenance costs on an evo wont be anything new to you. if you'll be tracking on a regular basis and eating up tires, pads & rotors, and twice as many service fluids then thats a diff story.. but as a dd, itll be just fine.
pull the trigger. you wont regret it.

evo is a good dd long as you dont go crazy with mods (this applies to all cars really) and keep up with maintenance...as far as the honda thing goes who cares its a machine just like the evo...to me someone who loves cars should love all cars...yes some are better than others but i believe a real car enthusiast has an appreciation of all cars...i had a 500whp sentra, 600whp civic si, srt 4, and now the evo...out of all of them my most bad *** car beside my evo is the si...you could eat off that car...i spent tons of money on it by throwing quality parts at it...i still love hondas and i always will...people who like to look down on you for liking hondas to me are ignorant...most people like that cant even change their own oil...my honda could have been parked next to any evo and it would have stood out because of attention to detail and quality of the build...i always wanted an evo and honestly i couldnt afford it...only reason i was able to buy it is because i bought a bit of a project but i brought it back to life...without having ever touched an evo, i did my research and dropped tranny/tcase...opened tranny with a buddy and swapped broken gears for new ones and new synchroes etc...upgraded the bolts on the tcase myself and swapped in new ring and pinion...my evo is healthy and running good as ever...anyway sorry for the long post but bottom line is screw what anyone says and get what you want...theres tons of info on the internet which will help you with whatever issue you may have with the car...
