Why such a thin oil? I've never heard of anyone running a 20 weight in an evo. Usually its a 30 or thicker...

Long story short and a can of worms, but after much research I was using a brand of oil who is now being used as factory oil for a major automotive brands. Aerospace Lubricants, Alisyn oil, is only a small part of what they do to boot. That being said, the oil helped the turbo spool quicker, make more power and also kept the heat in check. This is some of the data I was looking at before making my decision so needless to say it wasn't just, "Hey let's try this crap!".

Interesting. Honestly I didn't read though all of that and am not that well versed on oil, sure relative to a common person but not that knowledgeable on the topic. However that claim about freeing up HP helping the turbo spool quicker etc sure sounds interesting but it reminds me of Royal Purple which I never bought into. Now I know there is a lot more to what makes an oil good at lubrication and protection but i'd think the more HP it provides the less protection it can offer but maybe its just slicker so parts move more freely? IDK obviously but I only asked in the first place becuase I've never heard someone say theyre running a 20 weight in an evo.

Last post so as not to overrun the OP's thread.

Most people associate protection with thickness, but it's really more about surface tension and shear stability.

My shop manual says run 20W-40 in hot weather. I can't find 20W-40 so I run 10W-40.

FYI, awhile ago my oil light started flickering after a highway on ramp pull. Turns out it was a bad sensor.

So, you could try replacing that before you go looking at more expensive options. I've also heard of them coming loose as well.

At a minimum, replace the oil pressure switch.
