Hello everyone, I am new to the forum. (Feel free to redirect my chat to the correct thread, Thank you)
I decided to make an account to ask a simple question. I recently started working and I am making decent cash. To make a long story short, I have a cousin that bought a C5 and a C5Z. I like it a lot, especially since it has cams and other mods. The thing is, I am more of a turbo guy. My first car was a SRT4 and my second was a MR2. I want to get an evo 8 or preferably and evo 9. Everyone at meets and at the track say that they are great cars but very high in maintenance. I would realistically want one that makes 400-500 to the wheels. I also would like for it to be my daily driver. I am open to suggestions and I would like to hear what your experiences are with evos.

I would like for it to make some power, at least full bolt on and maybe e85? I know a few people like to do big wheel stocker. I am just in a cross path between the evo9 and a C5Z

If you're planning on lapping or auto x'ing the car I'd start with suspension, brakes, and tires before anything. Need the car to support the power. If you're drag racing I'd say just go and get a DSM. My car makes just a hair under 330whp on pump gas. If you want it to be a daily I feel like you should go for a full reliability build. Bottom end and everything. A good tune is crucial.

You guys are right. I do want to rally it as well as daily drive it. I am currently on the hunt for a clean one. Most of the ones that I have seen need some work and the owner is asking 18k+. I also test drove a C5Z yesterday and it felt great, the owner was asking 16k. I am keeping that one pending due to me wanting a DAM EVO lol

my basic 03 is great. trust me 350 whp in an evo is already pretty fun with a peppy turbo. but if you plan on tracking, suspension, brakes, wheels and tires are the way to go first. im sure there have been high hp cars on the track passed by much lower hp cars.

If I had to pick between the two for cruising/dding I think I'd go with the C5 Vette and just do cams/exhaust. I live in a city where we get 3-5 months of summer a year though and I like driving my car whenever so the Evo is a better choice for me.
