Cleaning the fuel tank

Hi. Is there an effective way to clean the fuel tank without removing it?

So I'm sure there are better ways but this is what I did...

Drove until my gas light came on, let it idle for a bit till I figured it was running on fumes. Pulled the fuel pump, shop vac'd the remaining gasoline. Used a brush and some elbow grease and just cleaned it through the fuel pump hole. My brush was able to reach the whole tank. Rinsed it, vaccumed, put it back together, jerry canned about two litres of gas into it and took it to the gas station. Still looked mint when I replaced my Walbro with a DW.

Thanks for your help.

I'm cleaning it this week. So I will wait few day and decide if it's worth doing it without removing the tank.

There should be two drain bolts on the bottom of the fuel tank, you can open them and have drain pan underneath, and use some carb/intake cleaner spray?

Never tried, but I got pair of fresh washers just in case I have to clean the tank.

Good catch. I saw the same thing & scratched my head. There are more than a few YT vids on the dangers of attempting this trick

When i converted over to E85, I pulled both plugs
