Short Shifter Installed...WOW!!!

Well, I seen a a guy on the board who had sold some short shifters to a few people here. So I figured what the hell I'll give it a try, the shifter was $30 and comes with a shift knob. I figure if it doesnt work or I dont like it its only $30. Well I got it today and had a few hrs before work so I thought I'd try to install it. The install was pretty simple, it took me about 1 hr or so and this is the first time i have tried to take the center console off (alot easier than it looks)

Everything is pretty straight forward, only one problem. There is a plastic piece that is attached to the stock shifter, it hold the shifter down. Well this piece is not supposed to come off, I guess you can order them. I wasnt about to wait. I shaved down the sides around the shifter a bit and hammered out the stock shifter, very easy to do. Anyways I got it all together and now was the real test.

I warm the car up and back out of the driveway, I put it in first and im already smiling, it is so short its unbelieveable. I get out on the street and shift to 2nd, lol my grin gets bigger, Im like I cant believe im in 2nd and so on. Now the real test , I tend to mess up on my 1st to 2nd shift, guess im trying to hard anyways, I get on it and shift to 2nd...WOW, very smooth and very quick, I shift to 3rd and start laughing. I am very satisfied with it.

I should have done this a long time ago, I highly recommend this shifter to anyone that is thinking of getting one, you wont regret it. Here is a thread and the guy I got it from was SpeednStylez, shipping was very fast. Short Shifter Thread

Sorry for the long post im just very excited about it. My S2000 has a pretty short shift stock and have always wanted that for the EVO, now I do

I know you'll like it if you do get it. That and the price is insane for a shifter that nice. Good luck.

Glad you like it. Did the SS come with any sort of lube? Can you remove the shift knob that came with it and replace it with stock or after market knob?

Does it curve like the Evo shifter at the top... or is it "just straight"?

Does the threading match the stock shifter, so I can use the stock knob?

Well, most short shifters attain the same threading, so I'm sure the sotck knob will go on.

Yes the stock shifter is compatible with this SS.

It shortens it in half and is at the perfect height.

It is just a little heavier due to the fact its all steel

If anyones interested please e-mail me at info@speednstylez.com

LOL, well he beat me to it. Yes the stock knob does fit, thats what I put on. I would get pix, but your not going to see much it looks totally stock. And yes there is a little curve to it, its not straight like some of them.

As for how it compares to the kartboy...I dont know, I have never seen the kartboy shifter. But I couldnt be happier with the shifter or the price.

just curious as this is related to short shifters but can this mess up your tranny in any way. someone told me that SS can mess up the timeing on your shift or watever and can cause tranny problems. just being careful before i try something new.
