Nearly left a deposit on a white EVO 8 RS

A new Mitsubishi dealership opened up across the street from me. I went there today during work to conduct business, my job releted and to ask about the RS. They took my info, and I offered them $500 over invoice. Is that a fair deal?

The sales manager asked me for a $100 deposit to secure the car, but I told him that I'd be back next monday.

He understands that I can get my deposit back if i face any financial hardship or if I change my mind. any advice?

500 over invoice is fair, however with the limited number of rs's produced and the greedy nature of the mitsu steal-erships, if they take that i'll be impressed. either way, if you want it, BUY IT!!.......what are you waiting for?

I think you are living in a dream world if you expect to be able to secure an RS for just over invoice.

I believe almost every RS will be sold for the MSRP sticker price at the very least....similar to the way the Evo's were when first released. Only after 6-9 months, and if there are cars still left on the lots can you expect to realistically get the car for less than MSRP.

You're right, I'll speak to the dealership owner on monday.
i'll leave a deposit (he only asked for $100-$1000) and let him know my terms and conditions.

I hope that when we actually sign papers that he'll agree on $500 over invoice. I'm just trying to cover my butt from getting scammed...I'll try and see if I ciould get my college discount too.

Whatever deal you think you are striking when you put down a deposit, if the guy doesn't formally write it down for you, you can't hold him to the price when the car actually arrives.
