Quick question for you...
I m a fellow mitsu guy (93 Stealth TT) just over with a question about the Evo oem wing....

My buddy up here in Canada just bought a Lancer ralliart (we don t have the Evo up here yet) and got it with an Evo wing.... I was looking at it close up the other day and I just can t stop thinking about it.... It it REAL CARBON FIBER???? cause to me his at least looks like its just painted with a cf type grain..... i swear its not really cf but fiberglass painted like cf..... With real cf, you can see the fibers under the clearcoat, but this is like just...paint... Anybody else see this????

 

the wing on the EVO is definitely real carbon fiber.

who knows what the one your friend bought could be made of. you should ask the guy he bought it from.

 

he got it from the dealer.... anyone have close up pics of the ones you guys get in the US?

 

I know for a fact that all genuine OEM stock evo wings off of stock evos are definately real carbon fiber. Considering this is not stock for the ralliart, it could have been an evo 8 wing with "CF look" which is not real CF.

 

You guys need to ease offDavin 24, he wasnt trying to ruffle feathers, just asking a question

 

If you read the original post he is refering to the wing on the Ralliart, he has obviously been subjected to dealer BS.....as we all know the ralliart is a different shape to the evo...and yes the one he is looking at probably is glass fiber if it's on a Ralliart...was your buddy charged extra because of the huh hummm "evo wing"

So ya...the wing.... i have no doubt whatsoever that the REAL evo oem wing is indeed cf, but was more wondering if you guys had ever seen an "imitation" cf wing on any Lancer before...maybe i should have reworded in the beginning...
This wing on my buddys car....he says its cf, but he s kinda new to the car world and is going by what the dealer said i think... cause if you look at it close up, it doesn t have the cf weaves under the clearcoat you know what i m saying? Its like a painted design....unless maybe its just me...maybe thats how they are... can you guys see the fibers under the clearvoat on your wing??

well that makes more sense that he is kind of new to the car world and so now it makes more sense that the dealer just told him it was real cf; however, i haven't seen any imitation evo wings but i'm sure they are out there... yeah you can see the weave underneath the clear coat on the real evo wing though.

 

 

Karate chop it and see if it breaks like carbon fiber.

 

 

I think he got owned by a stealership.
