Finally Modding My Evo IX! Any suggestion?
I agree. I'm hoping that cams and a IX turbo + 1000cc injectors will push me that little bit extra and get me in that range. I'm limited to 94 octane in my area. Also on some of the auto x setups I find my car has too much go already. At our first day out this season I was only 0.3 seconds behind a C5 Z06.
I just used the install kit with my stereo. Took half any hour I think. I put Autometer gauges where the stereo was.
I am reminded of something else that is good to know. You will get a lot of advice on parts to buy. I have learned that a lot of it is based on popular internet opinion. Information that may or may not be correct but is spread across the internet. You will probably also be advised to go extra large, extra big, and overdo your build so you have room to grow. In my opinion that is horrible advice. You will end up with a car that doesn't work efficiently and you will most likely be disappointed. Besides that, very few people actually "go bigger".
that being said, it really is hard to resist the urge to go nuts and throw on all the fancy stuff.

I advise all the new people, above and beyond all, be realistic of what you plan to do with the car and your budget, then build around that. You would be surprised how cheap it can be and what little you can get away with.

Some ideas...
^ My photos above:
1) Change your stock intake to an open one that allows more incoming air. Mine
is an HKS.
2) Sway bars help! Black is stock, blue is Cusco.
3) Orange rear one is ROBISPEC Adjustable.
4) Gauges are ALWAYS a good idea so you can monitor things, just in case. Mine
are easy to read digital AEM gauges (X6)
5) Chassis bushings to freshen-up your suspension.
6) Exhaust for better 'breathing'. Mine is a WORKS SS turbo back. It's a good idea
to do when you do an intake.
Good Luck! Where in NNJ are you? I'm near Paramus.

KISS = Keep It Simple Stupid lol Dont take this the wrong way.... but learn form others mistakes of going way overboard. Intake, TBE, 71HTA, cams, ECU controlled boost, few other minor supporting mods and just drive the car and enjoy it. If you want to do suspension you can keep it fairly basic and it will perform/look great and not cost you a huge amount.
The single biggest thing to remember and not loose sight of is MAINTENANCE. Not just oil changes and tires.... if you see a sway bar bushing getting sloppy, replace all of them.... if a ball joint is shot, replace all on that side if they all have the same mileage... be diligent with maintaining all the odd and end small stuff and use OEM parts or OEM quality and youll enjoy the car for a long time and it will be hassle free
