sorry if this is a repost but i was just reading through C & A's new car guide for 2004..i noticed the location of final assembly for the evo says illinois? is that true? i thought it was 100% japan or whatever..

 

It is 100% Japanese. If it really says Illinois, it is a misprint. I think the only things that are done to the Evo in the US is the filling of the tank and the setting of the clock. :P

 

there's a mistubishi plant in illinois but they make galants, endeavors, etc. the evo is 100% assmebled in Japan.

 

the plant is in Normal, IL and they make the eclipse there also

 

basically, the illinois plant makes the worst lineup of the cars

 

All Lancers other than the EVO are made in that plant in Ill.... the mag just didn't check their facts close enough. Pretty common with magazines.

yeah all mitsus except evo are made in normal plant. that thing is a sight to see also. my friend lives in normal so when im down there i drive by it. its mitsubishis almost to the horizon. sometimes theres not as many cars there but when the lot is full i think he said it holds something like 150K cars.
