Heater Control

Hey, guys.
The previous owner of my 2003 VIII did the double din mod which relocated the HVAC controls to the lower position. As a result, the temperature control knob to the left will not turn freely (or really at all). I haven't opened up the dash, but I'm guessing it's the heater control wire binding? Is there a simple solution (ie. longer wire, a relo wiring kit for the double din mod)?

The levers on the side of the heater box this knob connects to were defective from the factory. There's updated replacement levers and although its hard to believe there still would be an Evo out there without the new levers yours may be one. If the knob has been forced the cable may be toast also.

@barneyb, thanks for taking the time to source that video for me. I'll give it a go, as soon as, I dig the car out. We're under a couple feet of snow here in NJ. Very helpful..

Pray the Boosted Film tutorial fixes it because there is a second part to the fix. It involves pulling the dash, pulling the heater box, replacing the blend door and adding a cabin filter. In other words, heaps of work. There's a TSB describing what all you have to do. If necessary, I suggest obtaining a copy of the TSB from your friendly Mitsubishi dealer.
