i don't think you negotiate a shell like a running car. there's too much labor in it.

No MR 6 speed stuff.
No MIVEC .. so big horsepower.. if you want.
but i would agree... for a daily, a evo 9 is a better car.
and personally, i think they look better than an evo 8
OP... just get the seller to send you pics of all the VIN tags on the car.
that should sort things out.

Also the car is black from the factory...
stop asking questions about this car, unless you own a body shop or a mechanic's shop, you're not getting a good deal on this car. it's clearly not from a reputable guy if he's telling you it's an evo 9 or an mr.
find a new car. there's EASILY 10k of work that needs to go into this car, and that's probably not including the paint portion.
