I could be wrong, but I feel like that goes to your HVAC system heater core inside the car. It could also be the lines that go to your throttle body for idle control via heat. Look for two nozzles sticking out from the fire wall. Does your car have a working heater? I would check for a blocked off connection at the coolant hard pipe behind the block that runs to the thermostat housing. People like to reconfigure these things all the time.

Currently the heater core is connected to the pipe that comes off the water pump and the other hose goes to the thermostat housing is this not right?

There's two coolant hoses connected to the throttle body, two to the heater core, two to the turbo and two to the radiator.

it goes to the throttle body. That exact hose leaked on me last year. You might have to take the throttle body off to get to the lines coming out of it. If it has an aftermarket throttle body it might not have those lines. Could be the reason it was blocked off.
but.. i see it has the original intercooler hose so probably stock throttle body. Those lines should be there, kinda facing down.

Looks like you have a JDM EVO 7 Engine.

The best way to correct it is to get the following:
  • EVO 9 Water pipe / 1310A259
  • EVO 9 Thermostat Case / MD363250
  • EVO 9 Throttle body hoses / 1310A086 and 1310A087
  • EVO 9 Heater hoses / 7805A088
  • EVO 9 lower radiator hose / 1370A098
  • EVO 9 turbo water return hose / MD366383
You could probably get the water pipe and thermostat case used but I would highly recommend at least buying the hoses new.
