Recently bought an evo 8 what could this be from its on the exhaust side of the engine block by the exhaust manifold.

 

I don't understand your question. What are we looking for?

 

I was thinking the same thing, maybe the rust on that bracket?

Might be time for a head re-fresh?

 

looks like it is seeping oil out of the exhaust manifold.

does it smoke on start up? or on decel?

 

Was thinking its running too rich? combined w/a failed gasket?

 

Sorry for not being specific the fluid that was next to the manifold gasket i wiped it off used some brake parts cleaner on it and got it off. I just drove it today probably about 40 miles. Nothing has come out since.

 

It doesnt smoke on startup or decel either.

 

if you google evolutionm exhaust manifold leaking oil...there are alll kinds of threads on it.

i didnt read them all.. so not sure why it does this.
