Evo III GSR Center Brake Lights (Sides of License Plate) SOLVED!!!
Hi Evo fam! So, I have a dumb question for the Evo III owners of the group... I for the life of me, cannot figure out when my center brake lights are suppose to be on. They do not come on when the headlights are on, and they do not come on when the brakes are applied. I have changed the bulbs just to be sure, but before I start tracing back wires, I figured I would ask here in case I am missing something obvious. I have also tested my license plate lights to be sure those work on the trunk as well in case there was a grounding issue, but that is as far as I went. Here is a pic of the lights in question circled in blue.
They should be on with the running lights (i.e. when the headlight switch is flipped on to running lights or full headlights), but it's not the end of the world if yours don't work. Heck, those panels were blacked out on RS models. You'll need to do some electrical diagnosis to find out why, we can't tell you from behind a computer.

All good! Thank you. This is all I needed as I just did not want to chase down and issue until I knew how they were used. Thank you.
Alright, I traced back my wires to the front of the car under the dash. I found them in an unplugged connector with no other end around (circled in blue in image below). I will need to keep looking around to see where this could have been plugged in. I am suspicious of that fat white wire. This may have been unplugged because someone needed to tap this signal for something else. If anyone has any thoughts, I would greatly appreciate it.
It should have a very specific plug to go into, and the fat white wire is supposed to be in the spot it's in.
Someone just posted a night shot of their GSR with lights on but the garnish lights are out, so maybe this isn't a one-off occurrence. There is some good info here: https://www.4gtuner.com/topic/23662-...rus-out-there/, but I honestly wouldn't know where to begin on this one.

OK this is awesome. I just read through that post and it was super helpful. This mystery is now solved!!! Those tail lights are only on when the fog light button is on along with the main headlights. This was completely just a misunderstanding on what those lights were on my part. That post made it pretty clear once I looked at the wiring diagrams. Thank you so much @RS200 !!! I owe you one.
