What's it worth! Help a brotha out. ***Pics added***

Hey guys. I found a IX SE 5 Speed with 55K original miles on it. According to seller only mods are tein coilovers and rre stealth exhaust. The rest all original stock. Stock tranny and untouched engine. Clear title no rust. What's it worth and what I should offer?

I will post pics in a sec...

Sellers probably thinking low to mid 30's, I'd probably try and offer high 20's.
Assuming no rust accidents and a clean PPI

Clean PPI? What is PPI if you dont mind me asking... Pre-purchase inspection?

I do notice exhaust manifold shield no longer stock, radio, rear bumper, oil filler cap... are the rims aftermarket? They are asking $33k.

My quick thoughts:
  • It also has an open intake (possible CARB decal on there, cant tell)
  • This EvO only shows 1 smog check in which it passed but its due again March 2021. Its clear the license plates have been changed for some reason?
  • He is likely a RRE customer & may have been tuned which may affect the smog check
  • $33K seems a bit high, but the EvO looks real nice w/low miles.
Bottom line, i approve (my .02)

I want to say the rims are aftermarket, but its kind of hard to tell from the pics. SE should have come with BBS wheels. The other stuff is you mentioned is pretty minor. I would want to have the stock airbox and intake if available though. You are correct PPI is pre-purchase inspection. These cars have a ton of expensive gotcha's and having a PPI done by a shop that specializes in evo's or at least the turbo awd platform is going to be crucial. These will almost always pay for themselves because they will find stuff (hopefully minor maintenance stuff) that you can use to negotiate the price. I would also want to see service records, some things are mileage based and some are mileage or time based (which ever comes first) so a proper maintenance history should reflect that. For example the timing belt for an Evo 9 is 60k miles or 5 years. So this car should have had the timing belt replaced twice by now and be ready for (or just had) a 3rd done. Same with the oil, its every 5k miles or every 5 months ( you can do the math on how many changes that is ).

Edit: Sorry I made a mistake, everything is mileage and/or time based. So a good look at the maintenance schedule should give you an idea of what should have been replaced by now.

If you're serious about this car and its what you're looking for id give them what they're asking. Seems perfectly reasonable for condition. Lots of members on these forums like to talk about deals but the last time they bought an evo let alone a clean 9 was ten years ago and the prices definitely went up since. In 2021, 33k seems like a good deal and these cars are only rising. If you don't pick this evo up someone else will. Seller will probably reject anything too far below his asking anyways and youl be waiting how long to come across another one in this condition.

If the PPI checks out good, the car looks really nice. I think after the PPI, the "how bad do you want it" comes into play.

Evos are still out there, but not this nice and clean. If your not worried about a Absolute bone stock example, i would have no worries buying this one. Given the market for evos, i do not see prices going down any time soon, i would feel happy paying 30k for it.

Food for thought, this would have been a 20-25k car 10 years ago. So again, really depends on how much you want it, is it a car you will keep for a long time especially as is? This would be a great car to leave as is, looks great too

Thanks guys! This deal fell through 😭.

With todays market and how these cars keep rising in sale prices, low mileage are getting expensive! I have a lead on a 2005 Evo 8 Ssl in mint condition from pics with 11k miles. It is mostly stock except I believe coil overs, exhaust and cams, aem a/f guage, 3 guages boost/oil temp/oil pressure (cant remember brand) ecu tuned on 92 pump. It is on evo X Gsr wheels. Cant remember the brands of parts, I’m going to look at it tomorrow. 2 owner vehicle. Would you guys think 35-37k is a fair deal? Thank you!

IMO, aftermarket cams and stock do not go in the same sentence
