When you're filming, make sure you get the front of the car and the fenders in the camera's viewfinder. That'll help those watching the video place the car on the track.

are you worried at all about pebbles or tiny rocks breaking the lens itself?

Man, I'm not even the guy that started this thread and I'm already annoyed at the responses. Wind noise was asked, and answered, then asked again. Rocks and chips was asked, and answered, then asked again. You people need to learn to read all the responses before clicking the reply button, I see this in SO many threads on this forum.

Anyways, I like the camera mount, and I agree, an out of car view will really help you analyze your line. Good luck with it!

Whew.. thank you SuperHatch, I agree 100%. Anyway, I bought the camera with my AmEx which covers any and all accidental damage to the camera, so one way or another I'm covered. Let's just see how it works out and I'll let you all know this weekend if it ended up a disaster.

Will they let you on the track with that set-up? Have you asked? Or are you -hoping- they won't have a problem with it?

Looks like a good mount!

Well ahead of time, I asked the guy running the show if it was ok, and he said he'd have to check it out in person but he sounded generally positive. If not, then I'll bungee a tripod inside the car like everyone else.
