Drove Evo for the first time today

So I thought I was going to be blown away
I have driven mustangs (modded to hell), old 911sc, integra gsr, preludes...
I know this car is fast as sh#!, It just didnt feel OH MY GOD fast also we were on back twisties so I had no other cars around to compare speed too.
The Accord V6 is not a slow car, and it most definitely has better low-end torque than the Evo. However, once you past 3000rpm, the Evo will literally "take off" and leave the Hondas in its mirror. I have owned a B18 Integra and an H22 Prelude, and those two cars will have to scream in VTEC zone trying to keep up, while the Evo doesn't even know its racing.
Every few weeks, I would attack the twisties with other fellow Evo and WRX/STi owners. The car is very responsive when it's kept over 4000rpm. Underpower is never an issue. Understeer maybe...I could use some suspension work (lowering, sway bars, etc)

Evo faster than fast
I'm surprised by some of the comments here, Evo not fast? Geez, 271 hp on a <30K car is not fast enough? I guess the Evo really has made it big if it's being compared to Vipers, M3s, and 911s...
What car compares to it within the same class/price range? And during these test drives are you just basing this on feel or are you comparing it to how fast you're passing other cars on the road, timing a 1/4 mile, or making a valid comparison to an S2000, IS300, A4, 330c, or WRX?
When comparing the Evo on the regular roads I feel real fast. The only reason I feel the need for performance mods is because I feel slow when I'm lining up with Stage 4 WRXs, Stage 2 STIs, Stage 3 S4s, or other modded Evos....when you put it in that comparison, I guess you're right...

In my defense, I thought the EVO was fast. It's definitely the fastest car I've ever driven, and overall I liked the experience.
I guess I just hyped it up in my mind too much (probably from the bias you guys have on these forums
) and was expecting the kick in the *** to be greater.
Good points on the level acceleration. I am used to cars "bucking" up under hard acceleration, so I'm sure that had something to do with it.
Again, it's fast, I think I just expected too much. And if the car had been in mint condition with under 40 miles or so, I probably would have bought it. So I'm still going to check out a few more dealers and see what I can do.
