3 EVOs in Austin???

Ok here goes...believe me or not...

Me and a friend of mine are driving north on the MoPac expressway at about 7 o'clock and we see a 3 car convoy of 2 blue cars and 1 white car. They were driving single file at around 60 mph which was what caught my attention so i sped up to see what was going on. it was raining pretty hard last night so there werent too many people on the road which made it easy for me to catch up. now this is the part thats confusing me. it was DEFINATELY 3 evos. i read "Evolution" on the backs of them...the wierd part is that they covered up the number with black tape, the cars had no license plates, they all had no spoiler, and they were numbered 13, 14, 15 on their back windows.

So we pulled up to the last car which was the white one and tried to get the attention of the driver which was a middle aged man, but he wouldnt look over. By this time we had already gone 5 exits past where we needed to get off the highway so we finally gave up and pulled off.

Now i hate rumors like this (without photo proof) as much as the next guy but i swear i saw 3 evos last night. what i'm hoping is that someone else in austin can confirm this so i dont feel like my friend and i were hallucinating.

Anyways, i've gone through every scenario in my head as to why there was 3 out driving around on a saturday night and the only conclusion i can make is that they were either out testing the cars for inclimate weather (it was raining hard last night) or they were being driven to a nearby importer (Autostrada Imports) in austin. the second scenario being the less likely as they were obviously covering up the version number none of them had the signature huge spoilers on them.

Well, believe what you will but if anyone else saw these cars last night in austin let me know.

That's a cool story.

Yep, it sounds like they're doing some more testing, probably hot weather testing since they were in Texas. The rain was just an added bonus.

Did you get to see the grills? Could be definite confirmation that they were VIII's although all signs seem to point to it anyway.

that was another strange thing...in all the EVO VIII spyshots i havent seen the side fins (like this --> http://evolutionimports.net/images/evo7rs2_3.jpg) on the front fascia but these three cars had them. sorry about not gettin in front of the cars but i wanted to read the 'evolution' on rears of the cars to make sure they were really evos and not mirage conversions.

the cars looked like evo 7s...except for the blacked out number after "evolution" and it had no spoiler. no altezzas either.

Say stefano, if you're ever interested in getting together and BSing and checking out each others cars or if you need any kind of help with your car, shoot me an email @

Read the work evolution? That doesn't say anything except for a sticker on the back. Look for the pushed out fenders. Or the fastest way look for the huge *** front mounted intercooler to confirm if it's an evo and not a Lancer. The front end is the most important. Especially it it's an evo VIII or an imported 7 .
