Initial Quality Survey Issues for the Evo

We just got a tip sheet today for dealing with the top 8 initial quality survey issues new Lancer Evloution customers have been complaining to JD Powers about. Listen to these:

1. "The brakes can be noisy at times."
2. "The fuel economy isn't great."
3. "The gear-shift was hard to operate."
4. "There was a problem with the clutch."
5. "The vehicle's ride quality isn't great."
6. "There seems to be tire road noise coming into the cabin."
7. "Tires have to be replaced at 10,000 miles."
8. "The oil needs to be changed every 5,000 miles."

The answers to these concerns are pretty straightfoward and common sense, but a few standouts like #4 - "This represents a few people utilizing a half clutch. It is imperative the clutch is depressed all the way down, especially when you have a high torque engine." However, its the ride quality, tire noise, replacement and oil changes that are suprsing complaints to me. But then again, one of the Hummer H2 complaints was "poor gas mileage" so what can I say.

I esp. love number 8. Oil has to be changed every 5000 miles.

Its a friggen turbo vehicle. 5000 miles is the max you should go with out changing the oil. These will be the same people *****ing that their engine died because they changed the oil every 10k miles.

I'm surprised squeaks weren't in that. I'd suspect squeaking and rattling would be just a bit more important than oil being changed every 5,000 miles.
