Mitsubishi finally admits failures from the past 2 decades
160,000 cars affected are mostly in Japan. DSM's are not part of their admission.
edit: i guess dsm's are not specifically named but are vaguely acknowledged.

WOW a reprimand and 5 days off work. What a joke. Yeh that will teach them, 5 days off work in the summer, some punishment.
I wonder if this will hit the American fan, probably not, too many lawsuits would arise out of this type of thing here.

" Mitsubishi Fuso on Wednesday said it would cut the pay of six executives and managers as punishment their cover-up of wheel and clutch defects to avoid recalls. "
oh NO - how will they live ????

Of the 160,000 affected vehicles, appx 7k of the cars were sold outside of Japan.
So what kind of car does Mitsu manufacture in Japan (and subsequently export) in such low numbers........not too many.
SC~

The Tokyo-based truckmaker, which is 65 percent owned by DaimlerChrysler, said in a statement that the pay cuts involved a 30 percent reduction for three months for the senior executives and a 50 percent pay cut for one day for senior managers. Mitsubishi Fuso declined to give specific figures for the pay cuts.

I realize Japanese business culture is vastly different than American business culture, but
(and Fuso) has some major issues at the top of their chain of command. Slapping them on the wrist isn't going to fix it.
Japan has VERY different buisness culture. Having them stay home for 5 days is like telling someone here they wont get paid for 6 months. Honor is looked at very highly over there and that is a slap in their face when something happens like this. So because it seems like a vacation to us isnt what it seems to them. But i am glad they are finally admiting to screwing up.
what are they gonna do anyway over there?
If they decide to cut pay, theyre' not going to quit. It's rediculously hard to find a job and most of the times, workers stay with their job forever.
