Yea I have heard a lot of things about Evo's being vandalized and such ...

A Evo 04' at my dealership got stolen ... apparently some kids kept the key after test driving it (dont ask me how they did it ... its hella stupid of the dealership come to think about it ) they took the Evo on the back roads and it was found the next morning crashed into a tree ...

My evo got keyed twice ... sometimes I wonder why some ppl dont like the Evos or the Sti's ... just because we have a big wing and mean look doesn't mean we're trying to be obnoxius ... I hate to park in a open parking lot just because I'm afraid people would do some shyt to it ... I get hella paranoid when I got to the mall ... I go out for 5 ciggy breaks just to check if the car's alright ...

btw .... (A evo was evovled from the lancer ... thats why it's called a Lan Evo ... respect the lancers man ... its a good car if u can drive it well ... its not how much money you can spend to get the power you want )

Some of us who live in large urban areas have gone so far as to make the car look as inconspicuous as possible. No wing, no badges other that mitsu+lancer, no tinted glass. My white RS can really blend in on the street with a bunch of vw golfs and late 90's civics. As one of my more thugish friends pointed out, "wow, it doesn't even have power locks or windows". True, some people see the red brembos and know exactly what it is, but by avoiding attention i think i avoid a lot of mindless vandalism. There's a lot more reason to be a 'sleeper' than to race.

Actually, this is one of my biggest problems with the sti. The wing is _not_ optional and a lot of them come with gold rims. Those things are just begging to get stolen when you have to routinely park on the street.

While I'm thinking about it, don't forget guys: get wheel locks.

It seems to buy an Evo, you really need $40K. $30K to buy the Evo, and $7K or so to buy a decent beater if you dont already own one. If we go to a movie or anywhere else I cant see my car from a window or it's out of my sight for a couple of hours, we drive my wife's car. A beige 4-door blends-anywhere car. Paranoid? Hell yes.

And some Evo owners need to get off their high horse. A car is not a *****. Just an observation.

I don't know why they stole the leather recaros. Personally, I like the cloth seats more. Besides, leather tends to burn your a** real quick in Phoenix. :P

Anyway, to backup my statement. Who is more prone to want the goods stolen from the cars?

10% of Evo owners with small spoilers.
5% of Evo owners who actually like the leather seats

-or-

100% of Lancer owners who don't have a carbon spoiler
100% of Lancer owners who don't have Recaros
100% of Lancer owners who don't have an OE Momo steering wheel.

wow you make it sound like u've been here longer than I have even without seniority in this forum (if there is such a thing), there's is no reason both of us can't be here.

i was trying to doubt that you were one of those evo owners but you truly are one of those arrogant, big headed, ignorant evo owners. im sorry to stir up trouble here, but i needed to get a point across. ill stop posting here cause im sure he'll try to defend himself and I'll have to make another post

let's say this never happened, but maybe you should think a little more next time before you post your unintelligent replies, TheGVR4kid.

Say it with me Bob. "I will not let my post count define me as a person."

The best thing about this thread, is the first 2 replies stated that the perps were most likely '03 Evo owners jealous of the upgrades. No one says shlt about this, but yet I throw in an obviously sarcastic comment about ES owners being behind it and all of a sudden the Lancer brigade comes out in full defense mode.

well... for the price difference i got my 03 for, compared to the 04,( mine was 25.4k +fees) i can get my recaros wrapped in suede(better than leather IMO) AND get a better sound system than the infinity. i'd say 50% of the people are right, and its just some punk trying to make a few quick bucks
and the other 50% are mitsu owners/friends of mitsu owners that want the upgrades
